An Iowa City man was charged with assault earlier this week.
According to police, the incident occurred at an unidentified location on Southgate Avenue at 2:40am Tuesday. 41-year-old Warren McDuffie is accused of physically assaulting the victim, leaving them with visible injuries above the left eyebrow and cheek.
When police arrived to arrest McDuffie, he allegedly refused to comply with orders to put his hands behind his back and stepped towards officers. After being placed at taser-point, he complied and was taken into custody.
McDuffie was charged with Assault causing Bodily Injury and Interference with Official Acts. If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to up to 13 months in jail.
