An Iowa City man who got involved in another person’s arrest over the weekend found himself taken into custody.
The incident occurred on the 200 block of South Dubuque Street at around 12:45am Saturday. 18-year-old Rayshawn Gadlen of South Johnson Street began to approach officers who were arresting another individual. He was instructed to stay away but reportedly continued to walk toward them. Police say they had to physically push him away to keep him from approaching, and arrested him.
A search incident to arrest allegedly turned up two marijuana roaches on Gadlen’s person.
He was charged with Interference with Official Acts and Marijuana possession. If convicted on both counts, Gadlen could be sentenced to up to 13 months in jail.
