A transient who asked to speak with Iowa City Police is also accused of assaulting them.

Arrest records indicate 42-year-old Nubia Floresmeza was at the Iowa City Police station at 410 East Washington Street for an extended period of time overnight early Saturday morning, but would not say why she wanted to speak to an officer. She also refused to leave after being told to do so multiple times. When police attempted to escort Floresmeza from the building just before 3:45 a.m., she allegedly slapped an officer’s hand, spit on an officer, and tried to kick them. Floresmeza had to be carried to a waiting squad car.

Floresmeza is now charged with Assault on Persons In Certain Occupations and Interference With Official Acts. If convicted on both counts, she faces a maximum of 25 months in jail.
