A woman who committed crimes in Johnson County and was sentenced to two years probation has been arrested after she allegedly committed crimes in Florida.
25-year-old Rayanna Pittman Haslett Tomoya was convicted of 2nd degree criminal mischief for a June 2023 incident in July 2024. She received a deferred judgement with a two year probationary period.
After being unable to contact her, a probation officer learned that Tomoya was arrested in Florida on September 18th of that year and charged with stealing credit and debit cards from her adopted mothers and using them at a variety of stores in the Oviedo Florida area.
A warrant to have Tomoya returned to Iowa was issued on October last year, and she was in court earlier this week. A public defender was appointed, and a probation revocation hearing was set for October 31st.
Tomoya could now be re-sentenced on the original charge, which could land her in prison for up to five years.
