Democrat Christina Bohannan led Iowa’s 2026 U.S. House candidates in fundraising this summer, but her opponent, incumbent Republican U.S. Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, maintains a $1 million lead in her campaign war chest.

That’s according to the latest finance reports for the quarter ending September 30th.

The Des Moines Register reports Bohannan, a University of Iowa law professor who’s trying a third time to unseat Miller-Meeks in southeastern Iowa’s 1st Congressional District after a narrow 2024 loss, topped the field with $1.06 million raised in the third quarter of the year.

That brings Bohannan to nearly $1.99 million raised so far in the 2026 midterm election cycle and leaves her with $1.6 million in cash on hand. Miller-Meeks raised $806,731 in the third quarter and has $2.6 million in cash on hand as she gears up for one of the nation’s most competitive congressional races.

Other Democratic candidates hoping to unseat Miller-Meeks include Taylor Wettach, an attorney from Muscatine, who brought in over $429,000; Travis Terrell, a University of Iowa Health Care worker from Tiffin, raised nearly $13,000.
