An Illinois man has been charged with sexual abuse after he allegedly had non-consensual sex with a woman at a Coralville hotel earlier this year.
The incident reportedly occurred at the SureStay Plus by Best Western on 6th Street late on March 8th and early March 9th. The police report indicates 22-year-old Corey Barnes of Champaign Illinois performed a sex act with the victim against their will. The victim allegedly told Barnes several times they were not consenting to the act.
A DNA test on Barnes matched the DNA retrieved from a sample taken in a sexual assault examination kit.
A warrant was issued July 2nd; Barnes was taken into custody Friday afternoon and charged with 3rd degree Sexual Abuse. If convicted, he faces up to ten years in prison.
