A Wellman man faces criminal charges after a Wednesday night garage fire.
Firefighters from Wellman, Kalona and Keota were all called to a blaze in an unattached garage on 7th Avenue just before 10:00. One caller to 9-1-1 claimed her husband was inside the garage and had set it on fire.
Once the fire was extinguished, 57-year-old Richard Williams was charged with Reckless Use of Fire. Washington County dispatch records indicate more charges may be pending. A preliminary hearing is set for Halloween.
