A Marion man has been arrested for his alleged involvement in a physical assault on the University of Iowa campus earlier this month.

18-year-old Clifton West of George Drive was reportedly among a group of people who chased the victim in the early morning hours of October 5th.  West is accused of striking the victim several times with a closed fist and caused them bodily injury. The victim suffered abrasions on their head, neck and knee.

A warrant was issued on October 10th; West was taken into custody Thursday and charged with Participating in a Riot and Assault causing Bodily Injury.  He could be sentenced to up to six years in prison if convicted on both counts.

West was released on his own recognizance pending arraignment.
