A Cedar Rapids woman wanted for missing a hearing on OWI and Child Endangerment charges has been taken into custody.
Back on December 14th of last year, 33-year-old Mianca Harper of 16th Avenue SW was westbound on Amana Road just after 11:15 pm when she was involved in a single-vehicle accident that caused over $1,500 in damage. Harper allegedly showed signs of intoxication and registered a breath alcohol level of .111%. Her two- and five-year-old children were in the car at the time of the crash.
Harper missed her arraignment on February 17th and she was arrested six days later. A case management conference was set for April 21st, and pushed back to July 14th, when she again failed to appear. A disposition hearing was then scheduled for August 29th, with a plea hearing pushed back to September 26th. Once again, Harper failed to show up for the court date.
Judge Jason Burns issued another warrant, and Harper was booked into the Johnson County Jail at 1:21 am Monday. She faces up to five years in prison on one count of OWI first offense and two counts of Child Endangerment.
