Kalona man arrested for OWI after reportedly being clocked at 111 MPH

A Kalona man has been arrested on drunk driving charges after a Johnson County deputy clocked him travelling at over 110 miles per hour.

Arrest records indicate 26-year-old Gerardo Ceballos Lemus of D Avenue was driving a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta on southbound Highway 218 near the Melrose Avenue exit just before 3:00 Sunday morning. He was pulled over by a deputy near the intersection of Highway 1 and Maier Avenue SW after he was clocked at 111 miles per hour, and he reportedly showed signs of intoxication. He was also allegedly wearing a bar wristband and admitted to drinking. An open container of alcohol was found inside the vehicle.

Ceballos Lemus’ breath alcohol level was measured at .148%. He’s now charged with Operating While Intoxicated.
