A traffic stop on an Oxford woman has led to drug possession charges.

A sheriff’s deputy stopped 47-year-old Terisa Soto of Lower Old Highway 6 Road on US 6 East in Tiffin at 10:30pm Sunday after reportedly making an improper turn.  Upon contact, she allegedly appeared to be very nervous, and said she was on her way home from Muscatine.

Soto denied having any illegal narcotics in the vehicle but admitted that she used to use methamphetamines.  A police K9 was requested based on her behavior and alerted on her vehicle.

A probable cause search reportedly found a small plastic baggie containing suspected methamphetamine under the front driver’s seat. A small makeup bag on the front passenger seat also allegedly contained another small plastic baggie containing a substance that field-tested positive for meth.  Two straws in the center console reportedly contained meth residue.

Soto was charged with meth possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. If convicted on both counts, she could face up to 13 months in jail.
