An Iowa City man was taken into custody Monday afternoon after an alleged assault on his spouse.
The incident occurred at a residence on Lower Muscatine Road. It reportedly started when 39-year-old Caleb Emerick lunged at his 17-year-old son during a verbal argument. His wife grabbed him to prevent an assault, and he pushed her down on a couch and pinned her there with his hand on her chest.
The couple’s 10-year-old son was present and witnessed the altercation.
Emerick was arrested and charged with Domestic Assault, simple assault, and Child Endangerment. He could be sentenced to up to 26 months in jail if convicted on all counts.
