Summer of the Arts has announced that ARTEMIS will be the Saturday night headliner for next year’s Iowa City Jazz Festival, which will be held July 3-5.
This award-winning jazz quintet has been named Jazz Group of the Year by Downbeat Magazine’s Readers Poll for two consecutive years (2023 and 2024). Founded by acclaimed pianist Renee Rosnes, the group features 2019 Trumpeter of the year Ingrid Jensen, saxophonist Nicole Glover, bassist Noriko Ueda, and drummer Allison Miller. Their sound has been called extremely cosmopolitan, sleek, rhythm-forward, and modern.
Out-of-towners planning on attending the festival are already being encouraged to book hotel rooms early, as the Festival coincides with an appearance at Kinnick Stadium by the Savannah Bananas baseball team July 3-4.
