While the third-ranked Regina football program is preparing to play for its ninth state championship in the last 20 years, the team’s supporters are trying to upgrade antiquated lights on the school’s home field.
The lighting at Regina home football and soccer games has been in need of an upgrade for some time, with the current lighting system dating back to 1980. The Regina Booster Club just began a campaign to raise $275,000 for replacement lights. The goal is to have the money raised by January 14th so the lights can be installed in the spring.
The Regals play top-ranked West Lyon Thursday afternoon at 4 in the Class 1A state championship game. Friday night at 7 it’s the Class 5A championship between #4 Liberty and #1 West Des Moines Dowling. Both games from the UNI-Dome can be heard right here on The Mighty 1630 KCJJ.
