A Florida man has been given credit for time served after he allegedly stole a car with children inside near River Junction.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s office says 34-year-old Jordan Wyatt of North Fort Myers was with his girlfriend, her father, and his six children at the River Junction access just before 5:45 on the night of August 18th when he got into an altercation with his girlfriend’s father. Wyatt allegedly threw the man out of the truck, threatened to kill him, and fled the scene in the truck with the girlfriend and five of the children still inside.

Wyatt was initially charged with 1st Degree Theft, Assault Causing Bodily Injury, Child Endangerment, and 1st Degree Harassment. If convicted on all counts, he would have faced a maximum of 15 years in prison.

Court records show he was given credit for 20 days served in jail on charges of 2nd Degree Theft and Assault Causing Bodily injury. The other charges were dropped as part of a plea deal.
