A West Branch man was arrested on a warrant stemming from a domestic incident from earlier this month.

Court records indicate 40-year-old Randall Grandstaff of Grant Street and the victim were riding from Solon to West Branch on November 7th. The two allegedly began arguing  about the woman’s behavior at a party they just attended. She reportedly asked Grandstaff to stop the car so she could get out, but he did not allow it.

When she attempted to get out of the vehicle, Grandstaff allegedly slammed on the brakes, causing her to hit her head against the windshield, cracking it and leaving her with a large goosegg on her head. She then reportedly called her son, who told police he heard Grandstaff yelling at her during the call.

The two parties have been in a relationship for about a year, with the woman living at Grandstaff’s residence most of the time.

A warrant was issued November 10th and he was arrested on the 17th. He’s been charged with Domestic Abuse Assault 2nd offense,  an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a sentence not exceeding two years.  A no-contact order was issued by Judge Jason Burns.
