Iowa City Police say they discovered an armed man passed out on the trunk of a car.
Just before 5 a.m. on June 22nd, officers located Raymond Osborne of Des Moines unconscious on the trunk of a car parked at the Meadowlark Condos on Lakeside Drive with a loaded Taurus G2C handgun near his person. Once awakened, Osborne allegedly claimed he had no idea where the gun came from. The gun’s serial number showed it was reported stolen out of Burlington, and Osborne’s DNA was found on the weapon. Osborne has previous domestic abuse convictions, making him ineligible to possess a firearm.
Osborne is charged with Possession of a Firearm as a Domestic Abuser and 4th Degree Theft. If convicted on both counts, he faces a maximum of six years in prison.
