Iowa City Police have arrested a wanted robbery suspect.
54-year-old Elenzie Porter of East Market Street was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 8:30 Tuesday night. Earlier in the day, Iowa City Police had shared photos of a suspect who was accused of robbing the North Dubuque Street Casey’s just before 10:00 Sunday night.
Police say the suspect walked up to the clerk, demanded money, and threatened to shoot the man. The suspect had his hand over a bulge in his pocket that appeared to be a firearm. He got away with about $80.
Multiple individuals recognized the suspect as Porter and identified him to police. The incident was also captured on security video, and shoes worn by the suspect match shoes found after a search warrant was executed on Porter’s nearby apartment.
Porter is now charged with 2nd Degree Robbery. If convicted, he faces a maximum of ten years in prison.
