The suspect in a cross-state burglary spree last summer has been arrested for a car burglary in Iowa City.
21-year-old McDyess Jean of Deerfield Beach, Florida was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 4:00 Tuesday afternoon. Iowa City Police say on the morning of August 25th Jean broke into a vehicle parked at Terry Trueblood Recreation Area and stole several items. Jean reportedly tried to use a credit card stolen from the vehicle at a the Muscatine Avenue Walgreens, but it was rejected.
Police say Jean is suspected in several car burglaries in Linn County, and he had been traveling through Iowa for the sole purpose of breaking into vehicles.
Jean is now charged with 3rd Degree Burglary of a Motor Vehicle and Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card. If convicted on both counts, he faces a maximum of four years in jail.
