A suspected porch pirate has been arrested by Iowa City Police.
36-year-old Jerry Dale of Westwinds Drive was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 11:45 Friday morning. According to arrest records, Dale was seen on video stealing four packages from a porch on East Bloomington Street just before 7:00 Friday morning. Security camera footage from the nearby Casey’s on North Dubuque Street reportedly shows Dale carrying the same packages. The total value of the merchandise inside the packages is estimated at $500. Dale allegedly told investigators he took the packages because they were his.
Dale is charged with 4th Degree Theft. If convicted, he faces a maximum of one year in jail.
