A transient who once threatened to decapitate a worker at University of Iowa Health Care is back behind bars.
66-year-old Russell Weston was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 9:00 Friday night. Weston is accused of skipping a probation revocation hearing that had been scheduled for September 11th. He was placed on probation after a conviction on a 1st Degree Harassment charge.
University of Iowa Police say Weston was being treated at the UIHC Hawkins Drive campus in August of 2024 when he threatened to choke, kill and cut off the head of a nursing staff member.
Weston was given one year of probation, which he is accused of violating after being convicted of Simple Assault in June.
Weston has a lengthy criminal history. If his probation is revoked, he could spend up to 175 days in jail.
