An Iowa City man faces charges after allegedly assaulting the mother of his children.
The incident occurred on the 1200 block of Arthur Street just after midnight Sunday. 39-year-old Sisto Peter Aldo of Primrose Court and the woman do not live together. According to police, Aldo picked the lock of the woman’s bedroom door and started an argument with her. He allegedly started shoving the woman and took her phone so she was unable to call for help.
The woman told her eldest son to call the police for her, and Aldo reportedly began to chase him. The boy was able to get to his bedroom and lock the door before Aldo could reach him. Aldo punched the door, damaging it as he attempted to get in.
Another one of the couple’s sons was able to get Aldo out of the residence and locked the door. Aldo allegedly punched the front door and exterior wall, knocking off a piece of siding that had a ring doorbell on it.
Police arrived and found Aldo in the driveway and say he had bloodshot watery eyes, had the odor of ingested alcohol, and showed assaultive behavior. He reportedly admitted to drinking and provided a post arrest PBT reading of .112 percent.
Aldo was charged with Domestic Assault causing Injury, Obstruction of Emergency Communications, Pulbic Intoxication, Child Endangerment, and 5th degree Criminal Mischief. If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to over three years in prison.
