An Iowa City woman wanted on drug possession warrants was taken into custody last night.
According to the original criminal complaint, 46-year-old Natalie Roberts of Middlebury Road was located by an Iowa City police officer the evening of October 8th as she was walking northbound on 1st Avenue. He recognized her from previous interactions and was aware she had an active warrant.
Roberts was arrested, and a subsequent search allegedly found multiple drug items, including used syringes, 1.7 grams of methamphetamine, empty plastic bags to store narcotics, and a white pill identified as Lorazepam that was not in an appropriate prescription bottle.
A warrant was issued for the possession charges on November 24th; she was charged with two counts of Class D controlled substance possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia. If convicted, she could be sentenced to over ten years in prison.
