An Illinois man was taken into custody last week after an alleged assault at a Coralville residence.
Officers arrived at the 6th Avenue apartment Thursday at 5:45pm and reportedly found that the victim had been choked by 38-year-old Davonte Autman of Bourbonnais, Illinois. According to statements from both parties, the woman victim opened the front door to leave the residence when Autman pushed the door closed with his hand. He then reportedly grabbed her by the hair and assaulted her.
The woman was allegedly choked four times, and said during two of those occasions she felt like she was going to pass out. She reportedly had clear red marks around her neck where she said Autman assaulted her, and well as scratches on her face.
Autman was charged with Assault causing Bodily Injury and False Imprisonment. He could be sentenced to up to two years in jail if convicted on both counts.
