Four University of Iowa international students who had their student visas revoked due to minor criminal charges have settled their lawsuit against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Department of Homeland Security.

The students filed the lawsuit in April to stay in the U.S., claiming they have done nothing to violate their student statuses, have no record of serious criminal charges, and remain in good academic standing with the UI.

The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports the lawsuit has been settled, and that settlement requires the government to reset the student’s status in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System, backdating it to April.

Two of the students are Indian nationals, and the other two are Chinese nationals. Three of the four students were convicted on drunk driving charges, while the fourth was convicted of disorderly conduct.
