After a record-number of applications for admission to the University of Iowa this fall, officials say they are considering changes to admission standards.
KCRG TV reports UI’s Vice President of Enrollment, Brent Gage, told the UI Faculty Senate at a meeting recently that the school needs to ditch the rolling application process, where they’re evaluated as they come in , for a more fixed schedule.
Gage also indicated that standardized testing might return as a requirement. The Iowa Board of Regents waived the ACT or SAT requirement for all of Iowa’s public universities during the pandemic, and voted to permanently remove the requirement in 2022.
The University says they may have to ask the Board of Regents to reinstate the ACT or SAT requirement to keep application and enrollment numbers at a manageable level.
