The Iowa City Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance as investigators continue to pursue answers in the December 30, 2024, homicide of Christine Blount.
Blount, 38, was shot and killed in the 600 Block of South Dodge Street. A mother, caregiver, and dedicated Iowa City resident, she was a respected professional known for her work and commitment to Shelter House.
Since the incident, the Iowa City Police Department has remained fully committed to bringing justice to Blount’s family and friends. Investigators have reviewed hundreds of hours of video, interviewed dozens of witnesses, and served more than 100 search warrants on individuals, residences, digital devices, and data sources. The department continues to work closely with local, state, and federal partners to follow leads across Iowa.
Despite these extensive efforts, police believe there are individuals in the community who have information vital to this case and have not yet come forward.
“This remains an active investigation,” said Lt. Jorey Bailey. “We are asking anyone with information about Christine’s death to contact us. Your tip could be the key to bringing closure to her loved ones.”
