A North Liberty man who is already serving 150 years in prison for sexual assaults and robbery in Eastern Iowa faces an additional 25 years after pleading guilty in Linn County District Court to Kidnapping, Robbery and attempted sexual assault.

The Gazette reports 28-year-old Asante Walker-Garcia Adams admitted to having intent to commit a theft and assault, and to confining or removing the woman during the crime.

The incident occurred on May 3rd 2023 in Center Point. A woman was outside her apartment and was leaning into her car from the passenger side to put something in the center console when Adams allegedly approached her from behind and forced her face into the car seat. He moved her behind the apartment building, then reportedly told her to take him to her apartment so he could rob her.  He then took her back to the car and attempted to assault her, but she got away and escaped to a neighbor’s apartment. Adams was identified by fingerprints left on the car window.

In 2024, Adams was convicted of two sexual assaults near Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo and near the University of Iowa in Cedar Falls. He also was sentenced to  50  years in prison in Johnson County after breaking into an Iowa City woman’s house in 2022 and sexually assaulting her.
