A Bettendorf man was arrested on drug warrants issued earlier this year.
On the evening of May 5th, 42-year-old John Foley of Central Avenue was stopped near the intersection of Benton Street and Greenwood Drive for driving on an expired registration tag. Upon contact, he told an officer that he had syringes in the vehicle used for heroin.
A subsequent probable cause search allegedly turned up multiple used syringes, two syringes containing heroin, multiple baggies containing a white powder that tested positive for methamphetamine and fentanyl, two THC gummies, 3 glass pipes used to smoke meth, and multiple spoons used to heat up heroin.
A check of Foley’s driving record showed him as an habitual offender barred through February 23rd. His criminal history turned up two previous controlled substance violations.
A warrant was issued; Foley has been charged with Driving while Barred, three Controlled Substance violations, one count of marijuana possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia. If convicted on all charges, he faces a prison sentence of over nine years.
