Cedar Rapids Police have made an arrest in a Sunday shooting that injured an adult male.
Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of 30th St Dr SE at approximately 4:08 am following multiple reports of shots fired in the area. They located an adult male with multiple wounds near a residence who was taken to a hospital for medical care and was listed in critical condition.
After their investigation, police have arrested 49-year-old Thomas Vesey III. He’s charged with attempted murder, willful injury resulting in serious injury, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The victim remains hospitalized due to injuries sustained in the shooting.
If convicted on all counts, Vesey could be sentenced to up to 40 years in prison.
