A stop for speeding has led to multiple charges for a Des Moines man.

State troopers stopped 45-year-old Anthony Kritchard as he was heading eastbound on Route 80 near the 245 mile marker, after radar showed he was driving at 92 miles per hour in a 65 miles per hour zone.  Upon contact, a water bong was allegedly in plain view directly behind Kritchard’s seat.

He was removed from the 2007 Chevrolet he was operating, and Kritchard allegedly admitted that he had a meth pipe in his pocket and had smoked somewhere between 4 and 6 hours earlier.

He was initially charged with driving on a license that’s been suspended 18 different times for non-payment of Iowa fines.  He also has an extensive history of failing to appear for court dates.

Post-arrest, Kritchard reportedly admitted to having a baggie of meth in his sock.

He was charged with 3rd or subsequent controlled substance violation and possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as driving while suspended. He could face a prison sentence of up to over five years if convicted on all counts.
