Former Coralville mayor Meghann Foster has officially announced her run for the Iowa Senate.
KCJJ previously reported that Foster announced on social media August 28th she would not seek reelection as Coralville’s mayor and said that local office is the most difficult type of office to hold and becoming harder, quote, “given the cruel and relentless attacks we are seeing from Republican leadership in our state.” She added, “I’m heartbroken and angry about what is happening and I’m ready to bring my voice to the fight in Des Moines.”
She is running for Senate District 43, serving Coralville, North Liberty, Solon and West Iowa City. Zach Wahls is the current Senator; he’s running for the US Senate seat currently occupied by Joni Ernst.
On her website, she describes her leadership as hands-on and community-driven, guided by a commitment to strengthening families, expanding access to essential services, and ensuring that community voices are heard.
