An Illinois man was taken into custody Monday night after a traffic stop on interstate 80 led to the discovery of a large quantity of marijuana.
A state trooper reportedly observed 27-year-old Bailey Basala of Moline operating a Ford F350 truck shortly after 9pm with the diesel cap loose and swinging on the side of the vehicle. The center ID lamp was also mostly inoperative, and Basala was pulled over.
He was asked out of the vehicle and asked to get his fire extinguisher. When he got out, Basala allegedly dropped a THC vape. A search was then conducted, and a total of 25 THC vapes, 3 unopened containers of THC gummies and two opened containers of gummies were reportedly found.
Basala allegedly advised the products were all his and that he bought them in Illinois and Michigan. He also reportedly admitted to using the product the day before.
Basala was arrested and charged with marijuana possession, a tax stamp violation, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He could face a prison term of up to over six years if convicted on all counts.
