Marco’s Pizza no longer operates in Iowa.
The Corridor Business Journal reports the locations, including those in North Liberty and Cedar Rapids, closed abruptly on Sunday.
The North Liberty location at 415 Community Drive had been operating since 2015; the Cedar Rapids C Avenue NE site since 2014.
A phone call made by CJB to the North Liberty location got an automated response that said, “Unfortunately, we had to make the difficult decision to close this location, and we will not be reopening.”
KCJJ received an e-mail from a Marco’s representative clarifying the closure date as Monday, Chief Development Officer Gerardo Flores said Marco’s wanted to consolidate its portfolio to develop other geographic territories. He added that Marco’s plans to open over 80 new locations this year and is open to talk with prospective Iowa-based franchisees interested in fully developing that market.
Other Iowa locations that closed include Davenport, Waterloo, Windsor Heights and Waukee.
