Three different fire departments were called to the scene of a truck on fire on Interstate 80 Wednesday morning.

According to a post on the West Branch Fire Department’s Facebook page, they were dispatched to a report of a truck on fire near the 257 mile marker on I80 eastbound.

Upon arrival, crews found a box truck fully involved carrying lumber and hardwoods, along with two ditch fires.  Due to the size and complexity of the incident, West Liberty Fire and Tipton fire were requested to respond with a tanker and brush truck.

West Liberty Fire handled the ditch fire a half mile east of the semi, while West Branch Fire began extinguishing the second ditch fire. Tipton Fire arrived and completed the suppression of the second ditch fire.

Once both ditch fires were under control, all three departments began offloading lumber from the truck and thoroughly sprayed the load to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.

No injuries were reported.
