More details have been released about the Friday morning stabbing death that led to murder charges against 47-year-old James Fuller Martin of Coralville.

Arrest records released Saturday morning indicate the address where the stabbing reportedly occurred, 2871 Spring Rose Circle #310, is Martin’s residence. They also show that Martin had allegedly plotted to kill the woman in the hours leading up to the stabbing. Coralville Police say Martin grabbed a kitchen knife, ambushed the woman as she was walking out of a room, and stabbed her repeatedly. Arriving officers immediately rendered medical aid, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim’s identity is not included in arrest records.

Statements made to investigators by Martin and a witness led to Martin being arrested at the scene and charged with 1st Degree Murder. If convicted, he faces life in prison.
Anyone who was in the area at the time of the stabbing is encouraged to contact the Coralville Police Department at 319-248-1800.
