Johnson County Conservation is now taking applications for this summer’s Idaho Wilderness Trek.
Naturalists from Johnson County Conservation will take local high school students to the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness in northern Idaho for a ten-day conservation adventure. The group will backpack into a remote area in the mountains and spend the week learning camping skills and do intensive conservation trail work in partnership with the Selway-Bitterroot Frank Church Foundation. No prior camping or backpacking experience is required. Tour leaders will provide several training sessions ahead of the trip to help participants become skilled outdoors-people and help the group to bond as a team.
This year’s trip is July 13-22. The trip fee is $550 and includes all backpacking gear besides clothes and footwear, food, and transportation. Financial aid scholarships are also available.
Applications are open now through March 27th. To apply and learn more, click here.
