An Iowa City man faces potential jail time after allegedly getting involved in an accident and lying about being the driver.

The incident reportedly occurred Friday just before 6:45pm and involved 21-year-old Drew Kozuma of South Johnson Street.  He was observed near the scene of an accident that left a 2017 Mercedes resting on two parking bollards.  Initially, Kozuma reportedly lied about who he was and being the driver, but he was later determined to be the driver and owner of the vehicle.

Kozuma allegedly had bloodshot watery eyes and smelled heavily of ingested alcohol.  He reportedly referred to himself as drunk and having had “a million” alcoholic drinks.

After refusing all field sobriety and chemical tests, Kozuma was charged with OWI first offense and Public Intoxication.  He could face up to 13 months in jail if convicted on both counts.
