Parking next to an Iowa City police cruiser at a convenience store led to an arrest for OWI.
38-year-old Adam Vogel of Wayne Avenue parked his 2008 Chevy Sierra next to a police sergeant at the Muscatine Avenue Maverik Thursday at around 8pm. He reportedly appeared to be intoxicated, so an impaired driving investigation began.
Vogel allegedly had bloodshot watery eyes, impaired speech, unsteady balance, and the odor of ingested alcohol. He also reportedly admitted to drinking.
After showing measurable impairment on field tests, Vogel agreed to a Datamaster test, which showed his breath-alcohol level at .312 percent, nearly four times over the legal limit.
Vogel was charged with OWI first offense, a serious misdemeanor.
