A Johnson County public transportation service designed to provide affordable and convenient curb-to-curb rides to work and school during evening hours will be discontinued later this spring.
Trip Connect was a pilot program being tested out as a way to give residents in northern Johnson County an option to get to and from work, school, or other appointments at a time of day when public transportation options are limited. Residents can pay $2 per ride from 5 p.m. to midnight Sunday through Friday.
The Trip Connect project went live in December of 2024, but funding runs out by the end of the fiscal year, meaning the service will end in June. New state laws limit how much money from property taxes can be spent on such programs.
