A wrong-way driver has been arrested after Iowa City Police say he was involved in a serious accident on Highway 6 last fall.
45-year-old Venel Joseph of the Saddlebrook manufactured housing community reportedly drove eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 6 for more than a mile just before 10:45 on the night of November 17th. He was eventually involved in an accident with another vehicle at the intersection of Highway 6 and Lakeside Drive, causing a serious injury.
A sample of Joseph’s blood taken by police showed a blood alcohol level of .133%.
Joseph was taken into custody on Thursday and charged with Operating While Intoxicated.
