Residents at Lake Ridge Estates Mobile Home Park say their trailers are sinking into the ground and accuse the property owner, Havenpark Communities, of failing to provide safe housing.

John Hickson, a resident at Lake Ridge since 2017, told KCRG TV the ground underneath the frames is washing out on a lot of the trailers, and has seen where trailers have sunk all the down to their axles.

Sinking can lead to buckled floors and walls separating from floors.  Given that Havenpark owns the land, Hickson said they should be responsible for fixing the problem.

Havenpark purchased the park in 2022 and residents there and at other properties have complained about raised rents and a reduction in services.  There has also been an issue with drinking water.

Havenpark responded to a request for comment with a statement that discussed an issue with water pressure at Modern Manor over the weekend due to what they say was residents constantly running water so pipes wouldn’t freeze. Havenpark provided bottled water, set up portable restrooms, and had their water operator on scene. They also said they’ve engaged with an engineer to address the erosion issue at Lake Ridge Estates.

Residents have requested a meeting with officials from Havenpark, but have been denied.  They have agreed to meet with two Johnson County supervisors, and that meeting with supervisors Rod Sullivan and V. Fixmer-Oraiz is scheduled to happen Wednesday.
