Iowa House subcommittee meetings on immigration enforcement scheduled for today have been canceled.
CBS2 reports House File 2041 would require all of Iowa’s local law enforcement to cooperate with ICE. House File 439 would require a person’s citizenship or immigration status to be displayed on their Iowa ID card.

Iowa Code forbids law enforcement agencies from discouraging the enforcement of immigration laws, and the bill would mean police agencies would have to provide full and complete cooperation with immigration authorities.

The bill was pulled from consideration after the weekend killing of a VA ICU nurse in Minneapolis at the hands of ICE agents.
