A Cedar Rapids man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after a traffic stop turned up marijuana and a prescription drug.

A sheriff’s deputy pulled over 33-year-old Laron Jackson of 33rd Street NE on Highway 218 South near the 93 mile marker after reportedly being clocked going 81 miles an hour in a 65 miles per hour zone. Upon contact, an odor of marijuana was allegedly observed, and Jackson reportedly admitted to having smoked a blunt in the car.

After Jackson reportedly told the officer that there was additional marijuana in the vehicle, a search was conducted and a small bag of the substance labeled “Purple Lambo” was found.

As Jackson was about to be transported for booking, the deputy asked him if he had any other drugs on him, and he allegedly pointed to his coat pocket, where a small pill with markings consistent with Xanax was found. Jackson reportedly said that he had found the pill and thought it was Xanax but wasn’t sure.

Jackson was cited for speeding and driving while suspended. He was also charged with marijuana possession and illegal possession of a prescription drug. Jackson faces up to two years in jail if convicted on the two counts.
