Junping Ren, the woman charged with running a prostitution ring out of two Paradise Spa locations in Iowa City, has surrendered her massage license.
The Daily Iowan reports the Iowa Department of Public Health’s Bureau of Professional Licensure said the 56-year-old Ren surrendered her license while she and her husband, 60-year-old Zhenshi Liu face charges including prostitution, pimping, money laundering, and ongoing criminal conduct.
The couple’s son, Yang Liu is accused of personally laundering $1.5 million through personal accounts.
According to the court documents filed Wednesday, Yang Liu denied operating a business in which illegal sex acts occurred and denied using the proceeds to purchase property in both Alabama and Iowa.
Under Iowa Code, all of the family’s properties purchased with laundered money were seized.
A trial date has not yet been set.
