A Dubuque man was arrested late last month on a warrant stemming from a theft nearly a year ago.
Police say 32-year-old Dakota Goarcke was at Bartertown Toys & Collectables the afternoon of March 19th and stole seven graded comic books with a total value of approximately $2100. He was allegedly identified through Dubuque County Jail booking photos, his driver’s license photo, and a deputy from the County Jail there that is familiar with Goarcke.
Surveillance video reportedly also was used to make a positive ID. It allegedly showed him getting into a rental vehicle that investigators learned was rented by Goarcke’s mother, and left the area.
A warrant was issued July 11th; Goarke was served January 28th and he was charged with 2nd degree Theft. If convicted, he faces a possible five year prison sentence.
Goarcke was released on his own recognizance the next day, pending arraignment.
