An Ely man called in because he wouldn’t leave an apartment complex faces drug possessions charges after police allegedly found him walking on the street with cocaine.

Police were called to the 100 block of East 7th St at 12:40am Saturday on reports of an individual who refused to leave an apartment complex.  They discovered 21-year-old William Horrigan of State Street walking in the roadway and reportedly observed bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech and impaired balance.  An odor of ingested alcohol was allegedly observed, and he was arrested for public intoxication. A post-arrest search reportedly turned up a blue plastic bag in his wallet that contained a white powdery substance suspected to be cocaine.

Horrigan was taken to the Johnson County Jail, and an additional bag of suspected cocaine was discovered on his person by a sheriff’s deputy.

Horrigan faces a controlled substance violation, possession of contraband in a correctional institution, and public intoxication charges. If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to over six years in prison.
