An area transient faces a number of charges after allegedly violating a no-contact order and assaulting the subject of the order.

The incident occurred on the 100 block of South Linn Street, where witnesses allegedly observed 36-year-old Vincent Augusta shoving the woman to the ground. When she got back up, Augusta reportedly grabbed her and dragged her to a parking lot.  Officers arrived and saw Augusta shaking the woman and striking her left shoulder with his forearm.  When he saw the officers, he fled and hid on the back porch of a residence approximately two blocks away.

Augusta was apprehended, and he allegedly showed signs of intoxication. A open bottle of vodka and a zip lock bag containing marijuana was reportedly found on his person. Augusta refused a PBT.

He faces charges including violation of a no-contact order, assault on a person with a no-contact order, domestic abuse assault, a controlled substance violation, interference with official acts, and public intoxication. If convicted on all counts, Augusta could be sentenced to over six years in prison.
