An Iowa City man was taken into custody after he allegedly tried to run from officers who were arresting him on an outstanding warrant.

36 year old Zarkee Hall was allegedly found with methamphetamine as he was being checked into the Johnson County Jail the morning of Janaury 21st.  A warrant for bringing contraband into the jail was granted February 3rd.

Officers came in contact with Hall on the sidewalk outside his North Linn Street residence Monday afternoon and reportedly notified him of the warrant. He allegedly said he would not surrender until he saw a copy of the warrant.  Hall was advised he was being placed under arrest and officers attempted to handcuff him, but he reportedly pushed them away and attempted to run.

A taser was employed effectively, and Hall became compliant with the officers.

He was additionally charged with Interference with Official Acts. Combined with the contraband violation, Hall could be sentenced to over five years in prison.
