The field of candidates running for the open US Senate seat in Iowa has narrowed after Democrat Nathan Sage of Indianola announced Sunday he’s suspending his campaign.
Sage was the first Democrat to officially declare his candidacy for the Senate election in April 2025. He’s a former Knoxville Chamber of Commerce leader, sports radio director and U.S. Army and Marine Corp veteran.
A release from his campaign said Sage visited each of Iowa’s 99 counties and held over 130 events. He said Sunday he was simply unable to raise the financial resources necessary to keep his grassroots campaign viable.
Democrats Zach Wahls of Coralville and Josh Turek of Council Bluffs continue to campaign for the slot to be vacated by US Senator Joni Ernst. On the Republican side, US Congresswoman Ashley Hinson and former state legislator Jim Carlin continue their campaigns.
